December 2022.
Here she is aged 2 months.
We named here after her mother ‘ Bailey’
She was one of 9 chunky puppies a Springer Spaniel and Poodle mixture ‘ Sproodle’ or Mongrel if born in the 1950’s like us.
Essential Kit:-
A puppy crate, this has been a Godsend for training rest and a good nights sleep. Don’t be tempted get this cute ball of fur out she/he will settle and it is in her case what she was used to.
Make it comfortable but not so it’s over hot we covered ours with a blanket.
Don’t wake her up to take her out, our pup was sleeping right through after 10 weeks.
A Harness! A.S.A.P just a simple one she will not like it at first but honestly it’s worth its weight in gold for grabbing hold of because they are quick! I left the lead trailing on her first walks when I was playing with her so I could grab it and it works!
Bribery treats.
Ball I played with several balls right from the start and at 4 months she was fetching.
We had considered getting a rescue or an older pup having regard to our age!
But rescue dogs are not for us because the are usually huge and others don’t have the health records that are needed for Insurance.
So we took the plunge when we saw the advert and fell in love with her.
The breeder was coping with a major extension to their home and it reminded us of France and they had been ripped off to the tune of £40 k.
Tip:-
A puppy needs to be taken out regularly into the garden at all hours of the day. So think about that before getting a puppy during the Winter Months.
I stood out in the small hours under star lit skies attracting the attention of our grumpy neighbour who saw me stood in shorts and a t shirt, shining a light into the eyes of a 9 week old puppy who hasn’t cottoned on to ‘pee’ Preferring to walk on our frozen pond.
Training pads are good but beware if you don’t actively garden train your new friend and reduce the pads they will do both!

T
Their teeth are like razors and can inflict a nasty wound.
A puppy explores its world with its mouth.
They love to play.

January 2023
They are super active and love playing
These puppies are completely crackers and full of energy
Screaming and shouting will do no good. Your game and training needs to be more fun than theirs. And no hitting!!!!!
I’m writing this when she is 6 months and she is a powerhouse of mischief but she does have some positive traits as I sit here crunching on paracetamol
I wash her outside with a soft setting on the hose keep the harness on and generally she doesn’t protest unless it’s too cold.
1st walk.
We were using a carrying case for the car but now we have a proper car seatbelt and she lays down.
5 months we have dispensed with the cage and apart from an occasional blip all is well.
This puppy is an exceptional searcher! I have worked with many breeds in a professional capacity and I have never seen one so determined. She will not stop! She’ll come back and you just need to send her back in and off she goes!
I’m now trying to lead train her😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
I use a harness, neck collar, and a halti. ( all fitted at the same time!)
Halti is a blessing for walking properly fitted and safely lead attached to the collar because they will try and reverse out of it. The Halti ensures full control without the battle of strength and will associated with out forms of lead walking.
People are used to Halti’s and no longer shy away and scoop up their children when they see the pup!
Harness I attach the lead when we’re in fields and playing ball because sometimes she wants to extend playtime not always but sometimes usually prior to long awaited appointments!
As she tries to escape I stand on the lead .
She is now responding to a squeaky toy which helps because whistles, whistling, yodling, screaming, singing just don’t work.
I watch a lot on Y tube and online but at the end of the day as with all our previous bairns over the years they all have their own personalities. I also think it takes time for them to understand/learn.
And she’s mischievous 😏
It was subtle but she started to change colour !
